The city of Braga is located in the northwestern part of Portugal in the Norte region. It houses the oldest archdiocese in the country and is the third largest city throughout Portugal. It is also the oldest city in Portugal, not to mention one of the oldest Christian cities found around the globe. The city boasts a population of 181,819 inhabitants (2011), putting it right behind Lisbon and Oporto, and is 183.51 square kilometers in size.

There are numerous churches throughout the historic city center, including the Braga Cathedral (which is the most important historical monument throughout Braga), the neo-classical Populo Church, the renaissance-style Misericordia Church, and the Saint Paul Church.

Popular museums include the Cathedral Treasure Museum, Image Museum, and the Biscainhos Museum.
