Almancil is a town located in the Algarve region in southern Portugal. It boasts a relatively small population of 8,795 inhabitants (2001) and is 62.96 square kilometers in size. It is a resort destination along Portugal’s shoreline and houses a number of holiday developments for long term vacationers. The area is known for its appeal toward travelers from England.

One of the primary examples of Algarvian architecture in the area is the Church of Sao Lourenco. Built during the seventeenth century, this church was dedicated to Saint Lawrence of Rome. Inside there are beautiful eighteenth century ceramic tiles. Also here is the Estadio Algarve, which is home to the SC Farense and Louletano DC.

The town of Almancil is serviced by the Faro Airport (FAO). It is located just 7.82 kilometers from the center of Faro, the capital city.
