The city of Albufeira is a primary tourist destination for many because of its location along Portugal’s coast. The city boasts a population of 13,646 inhabitants. It is only 45 kilometers from the city of Faro and 30 kilometers from Lagos, other popular locations. There are two main areas in the city where visitors can see sights and attractions as well as enjoy their time in the city – The Strip and Old Town. There are two primary beaches in the city – Praia do Tunel (Tunnel Beach) and Praia dos Pescadores (Fisherman’s Beach). Also to see in Albufeira is the Castelo de Almoada. It is a twelfth century Moorish castle.
